Christmas & NYE

Our last Christmas Party this year is on Monday 22nd December at Fez Club, Cambridge. Being as it’s so close to Christmas it should be pretty festive affair! There’ll be mince pies, tinsel, a few festive tunes and possibly even some mulled wine! Then on NYE the Fat Popps DJs take over 176 in Bournemouth for an intimate and unforgettable party. We’ve had some cracking weeks down at 176 since moving back this September. It feels lovely to be back in the venue where it all started in Bomo! The nights continue over the festive period but of course, we won’t be there on Boxing Day as we need at least one extra day of sitting about to digest all the turkey we’ll have ingested the day before…

It all goes so fast! Freshers week feels like only yesterday and for us, every week is a bit of a mad freshers week style party. We’ve had a bunch of hot parties including raves in Cambridge and Bournemouth and of course the mighty, mighty 3D Rave in Southampton. It seems the ‘credit crunch’ hasn’t affected you guys too badly as you’re all still coming out to play weekly!

We’re heading towards Christmas (which you can barely miss if you ever go into a city centre or a supermarket!) which means for you students a lovely bit of time off and for Fat Popps a chance to dig out some wicked leftfield xmas tunes. Look out for a nice xmas mix to be put up on here shortly…

Look out for our end of term xmas parties over the next month and a bit, full details will be posted into the city catagories as soon as they’re finalised!

Also, we’re doing a special NYE party this year – keep those mince pies peeled for details of DJs and tickets, venue etc… it’ll be the motherflipping awesomest night out in town that night!

Back at 176

Yep, the news is true, we are moving back to the place where it all began in Bournemouth, 176 on Old Christchurch Road. We have had some great packed out nights at Fat Poppadaddys as we moved to the Fire Station and Dusk Till Dawn, but nothing felt quite the same as being at 176 so we have decided to return home.

Fat Poppadaddys is the alternative club night that launched 176 and turned Wednesdays into Bournemouth folk legend.

Freshers ’08

Well, it’s about that time again when cities up and down the country are flooded with fresh faced kids getting their first taste of proper freedom, and this generally means going out 7 nights a week, blowing the student loan on posters, clothes, booze and parties and for 2 – 3 weeks not worrying about lectures, essays and exams! At FPHQ we’re preparing for the bearpits that are the Freshers Fairs, getting the flyers in order, the badges, stickers, membership cards and other knick knacks put into boxes ready to thrust upon the students looking for freebies to fill up their bags.

We’re really excited about the forthcoming academic year. We’ve got some exciting new nights in Cardiff and Bognor, we’re moving back to our spiritual home of 176 in Bournemouth, Southampton is bigger and better with some ace new decoration and some wicked events lined up including the 3D Rave (free glasses and glowsticks for everyone!) and Cambridge heads into it’s 11th year of being the biggest and best night out in the city. If the summer has been anything to go by, the new term is going to be absolutely massive.

If you’re one of the many that have contacted us about being a rep, we’ll be contacting you in the next couple of weeks to get you involved, there will be plenty of free guestlist for you and your friends in return for just a bit of love!
We still need more reps though, so if you love Fat Poppadaddys, or even if you’ve never been but you love good music, hate pretentiousness and want to be the centre of social activity in your uni, get in with us and be a rep. Contact us here : Reppin’

We’re getting all modern here at FP and embracing the world of Web 2.0 (terrible term…). This means there are nuff ways to interact with us. Our reps are on Facebook (I’m sure you all get regular event invites) and we have myriad groups on there to join that are checked and maintained regularly. Along with the behemoth that is facebook, we’re also rocking the bytes on flickr.com, last.fm and twitter.com. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these, why not visit the sites and get familiar, you can be our contact, or friend if you like, on any of them. And on flickr, we have a dedicated FP Photo Group which means you can join flickr and share your FP photos with us, we’d love you to get involved ‘cos we can’t be everywhere at all our nights and we’d love to see your take on proceedings! For those that bother, we’ll be displaying the photos on the front page of fatpoppadaddys.com and choosing a winning photo from each of our cities every month with the winner receiving a Gold Card which as you know, gets you and a guest past the queues and into any FP event free for a year! Pretty sweet!
